CBU to Extend Nursing Deadline for Indigenous and African Nova Scotian Students

Cape Breton University is pleased to announce an application extension for Indigenous (Mi鈥檏maq) and African Nova Scotian students entering the Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BScN) program this September. The extended deadline has been set for March 26, 2021.聽

This extension is part of an ongoing effort to assist Nova Scotia in achieving greater diversity in the BScN-Registered Nurse workforce through increased participation of members from Indigenous and African Nova Scotia communities. It will provide additional time for Indigenous and African Nova Scotian applicants to complete the necessary steps to submit their application or learn more about the opportunities at CBU.鈥

The BScN program is one of CBU鈥檚 most competitive programs, seeing more than 500 applicants each year. Recently, the program has seen tremendous growth, offering 141 seats; 20 of which are reserved for Indigenous and African Nova Scotian applicants. The deadline to apply for the BScN program is February 20 of each year, with this year鈥檚 extension being made after discussions with CBU Indigenous and African Nova Scotian Advisory groups as well as government partners from Labour and Advanced Education.聽

The extended deadline has been set for March 26, 2021 for the September intake, with three streams available for application: direct entry, advanced standing, and the LPN to BScN pathway.聽
