Kicking Off the Season with Ally Rowe
Ally Rowe is warmed up and ready to kick-off the 2022/23 soccer season this weekend as the Capers take on the UPEI Panthers and SMU Huskies. 鈥淎fter the preseason game we had against StFX, I am feeling really good heading into opening weekend,鈥� says Ally. 鈥淥ur team played well and is looking strong.鈥� Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, Ally is in her third year of the Bachelors of Arts Community Studies program with a major in Sport and Physical Activity Leadership. Currently a striker for the Capers, she first started playing soccer when she was just seven years old.聽
The most enjoyable aspect of playing for the Capers, according to Ally, is the feeling of being on the field and playing alongside her teammates. 鈥淭he day to day intensity of training and the coaches鈥� attention to detail and advice have also helped me improve different aspects of my game,鈥� she adds. As a striker, Ally aims at being a better outlet and creating more scoring opportunities for her teammates this season in order to attain more shots on the goal. Ahead of the season home opener happening during Orange Out Festival Weekend, Ally says team spirit is very high and everyone is in the right mindset to start the season on a high note.聽
During the preseason game at StFX鈥檚 homeground, the Capers tied 1-1. 鈥淣o matter the result, we will keep the team morale up and keep improving from week to week,鈥� she says. Ally truly believes that opening weekend is important for the team since it sets the tone for the rest of the season.聽 In order to perform better, the love, support and cheering from fans is vital, according to the striker. 鈥淚t is great to have the Orange Army out at our games because they are like the 12th player on the field,鈥� she explains. 鈥淗earing them cheer really makes a difference for the team.鈥澛�
Ally will be sporting #12 on her jersey, so keep an eye out for her when you come out and support the Capers this weekend.聽
