My CBU Story: Madison Walcott
Growing up in Sydney, Cape Breton University鈥檚 reputation preceded itself for Madison Walcott; A close knit place where students are seen, professors who know your name and that feels like a 福利免费在线看. That reputation is what brought Madison to CBU and the Shannon School of Business, and where she learned to turn her ideas into content and see them thrive. Now Madison prepares to take her next step, this time across the stage of the Kehoe Forum, as a graduate of CBU鈥檚 Bachelor of Business Administration program with a Major in Marketing.
鈥淚 was drawn to CBU because of its smaller classroom sizes and the opportunity to build stronger one-on-one connections with professors. Being from here, I鈥檝e always known about CBU鈥檚 supportive and close-knit learning environment, and I knew I wanted to be part of a university that values personal growth and meaningful connections within the 福利免费在线看,鈥� says Madison. 鈥淭hrough my classes, especially in marketing, I鈥檝e gained practical knowledge and experience that I can apply directly to my career.鈥�
In the classroom and around campus, that promise of 福利免费在线看 felt real. Madison points to Marketing professor Elaine MacNeil as a steady source of guidance and momentum. 鈥淪he provided incredible insight into the world of marketing and shared valuable lessons that went beyond the classroom,鈥� Madison says. 鈥淪he was truly a blessing to have as a mentor and guide throughout my studies, helping me grow both academically and personally.鈥�
During her time at CBU, Madison didn鈥檛 only make marketing connections, but was also able to meaningfully connect with the African Nova Scotian (ANS) and African Canadian (AC) student communities around campus. Madison also worked with the Advising Centre at CBU; helping organize events, participating in panels and hosting activities for the ANS and AC student 福利免费在线看. 鈥淎s an African Nova Scotian myself, it鈥檚 been meaningful to connect with my 福利免费在线看 and help create a welcoming and supportive space for other students,鈥� Madison says. 鈥淭he experience has been one of the most rewarding and memorable parts of my time at CBU.鈥�
At CBU, Madison found opportunities to stretch her abilities outside the classroom as a member of the Business Society and a student ambassador for tech giant Amazon. As an Amazon Student Ambassador, Madison created content for their Amazon Student platform and organized giveaways on campus. 鈥淚 was proud to help put our university on the map and create ambassador opportunities for future students,鈥� says Madison. 鈥淭hese experiences have truly enriched my time at CBU.”
As she looks to the future, Madison鈥檚 goal is to keep creating and developing her skillset while she explores the opportunities within the world of Marketing. She is excited to build on the skills she developed at CBU and see where her creativity and experience in marketing take her next.
Despite what she鈥檚 achieved, Madison is quick to share credit for her journey. She says her family and friends have been an integral part of her success. 鈥淢y biggest support system throughout my degree have been my friends and family, especially my mom,鈥� says Madison. 鈥淪he has been my biggest cheerleader and constant source of strength, always believing in me – even when I doubted myself.鈥�
鈥淚 would tell anyone thinking about coming to CBU to go for it,鈥� Madison says. 鈥淪maller class sizes create a supportive and personal learning environment and the professors truly care about your success.
