To the Cape Breton University Community,
It is with great pride that we announce the grand re-opening of the Nancy Dingwall Health and Counselling Centre, now located in the newly renovated and expanded Kehoe Forum across from CBU鈥檚 residences and between the Kehoe Forum and Sullivan Field House.
Nancy Dingwall began her career as the physiotherapist for CAPERS Athletics in 1980 and continued in that role until her retirement in 2013. Nancy worked with students and athletes through the CBU Athletic Department and with the 福利免费在线看 in what was formerly known as the Max Bell Health and Counselling Centre. After a courageous battle with cancer, Nancy passed away in 2023. The official motion for this name change was put forth in 2021 by the Cape Breton University Board of Governors. The motion was approved unanimously by the full Board.
This new clinic space honours Nancy鈥檚 extraordinary legacy. Her career was defined by her care, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of students. Nancy was a visionary leader whose forward-thinking approach shaped how we support student health at CBU today.
An official ceremony took place yesterday in the Kehoe Forum’s atrium, where we were honoured to be joined by members of the Nancy鈥檚 family, Leigh Anne, Jennifer, Jay and David.
The Nancy Dingwall Health and Counselling Centre remains a welcoming and inclusive place for all students. Our dedicated and knowledgeable team of health professionals offer a wide range of confidential services, including mental health counselling, primary medical care, health promotion initiatives, crisis intervention, and wellness education. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where students can thrive, all in Nancy鈥檚 name.
The Centre not only honours Nancy鈥檚 name but will carry forward her enduring and beautiful spirit. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and patient-centered care lives on through every interaction, every service, and every student supported within these walls. As we look to the future, we remain firmly committed to upholding the values Nancy championed, ensuring her vision continues to guide and inspire the work of the Health and Counselling Centre for generations to come.
Warm regards,
Judy Kelley
