Two students from Cape Breton University鈥檚 Psychology Department have been awarded 2018 Certificates of Academic Excellence by the , the national association for psychology in Canada. The awards, which recognize their outstanding research achievements, were presented to the Sarah Williams and Sheryl Fogarty on Friday, November 2, 2018.
鈥淧roducing a thesis is challenging and requires a lot of time and dedication, but it is one of my most proud achievements,鈥 says Williams, who studies the factors associated with stress eating among university students. 鈥淭he time and effort my supervisor, Dr. 脡ric Th茅riault, put into guiding me through this process was remarkable.鈥
Fogarty, who studied the role of a 福利免费在线看 youth program in developing social and emotional learning, says she is thankful to have been able to conduct research in a field she feels passionate about. 鈥淢y thesis supervisor was Dr. Michelle Jetha and it was such an advantage to have her as a mentor,鈥 says Fogarty. 鈥淪he was so engaged and supportive throughout the entire process.鈥
Chair of the CBU Psychology Department, Dr. Geoff Carre, noted that faculty are very proud that both of these first-class students were recognized for their successful efforts.
The Psychology Department at Cape Breton University offers Honours in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. Research by the 2019 graduating class is already underway.
