The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) is the hub for research at Cape Breton University, supporting faculty, students, and partners in advancing impactful and innovative research.
Guided by CBU鈥檚 2026鈥2030 Strategic Research Plan, ORGS strengthens the university鈥檚 research profile by helping researchers develop their programs, secure funding, engage in knowledge mobilization, build meaningful partnerships, and explore pathways for commercialization. Whether launching new projects or expanding existing work, ORGS provides the guidance and resources needed to move research forward.
ORGS also supports key regulatory processes, including research ethics and integrity, and works collaboratively with researchers to ensure projects meet institutional, provincial, federal, and funder requirements. This includes oversight and administration of major national programs such as the Canada Research Chairs Program and the Research Support Fund.
CBU is a proud signatory to the Tri-Agency Statement on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI): 鈥淭he Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council are committed to excellence in research and research training. Achieving a more equitable, diverse and inclusive Canadian research enterprise is essential to creating the excellent, innovative and impactful research necessary to advance knowledge and understanding, and to respond to local, national and global challenges.鈥
