You can also review major Tri-Agency funding opportunities on the following websites:
The Office of Research & Graduate Studies (ORGS) works closely with the Finance Department to ensure research accounts are established and administered in accordance with institutional policies and funding agency requirements. While ORGS does not directly manage research accounts, it reviews and approves many research-related expenses.
ORGS can also assist with pre-award financial planning and research budgets. For questions related to post-award administration, including eligible expenses and research account management, the Finance Department is the primary resource. For post-award support, please contact Shelly Schell, Research and Project Accountant.
Visit the for more information.
The is also an excellent resource for understanding the use and management of research funds. Researchers should also note that individual funding agencies may have their own policies and requirements.
Many research grants include funding to support Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) such as graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants. The Office of Research & Graduate Studies (ORGS) can assist researchers during the proposal stage by helping to plan for HQP needs within grant applications and by reviewing institutional guidance related to hourly wages, benefits, and other employment-related costs.
ORGS does not manage the hiring process. For questions related to recruitment, employment policies, pay scales, and hiring procedures, researchers should contact the Human Resources Department, which oversees all research-related hiring at the university.

The safety of research staff and faculty is a priority at CBU.
Researchers should be familiar with the following health and safety bodies:
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), supported by the Biological Safety Officer (BSO), ensures compliance with Public Health Agency of Canada regulations related to biohazards, biosafety, and biosecurity. The IBC reviews and approves all teaching and research involving microorganisms at CBU.
The current Biological Safety Officer is Paul MacDougall, Senior Instructor II, Department of Health Sciences. The IBC, through the BSO, reports to the Vice-President, Academic.
The Office of Research & Graduate Studies (ORGS) supports researchers throughout the development of funding applications, from early-stage concepts through to submission.
To allow time for comprehensive review and high-level feedback, researchers are encouraged to submit applications to ORGS at least four weeks in advance of the funding agency deadline.
Final applications must be submitted to ORGS no later than one week prior to the agency deadline to allow for institutional review and approval.
